Three Day Weekend!

I’m currently in the third day of my weekend and I’m enjoying Christmas movies and coffee in front of my fireplace.

The entire weekend started off on a bad foot, though when I came home on Thursday to no running water. We called the city water dispatch line who told us our pipes were probably frozen and that they would put us on the list and that sorry, but we were #63, so they’d get to us Saturday or Sunday. Bummer. But I had a fun weekend planned, so I tried to ignore the no running water thing.

Friday night, Andrew and I spent Valentine’s Day painting and eating dinner at a date night event. We painted beautiful pictures and Andrew managed to not draw naughty things in his.

We finished out our night watching Mystery Science Theater 3000 with my sister, Molly. How romantic.

Saturday, Molly and I road tripped to my hometown for The Big Freeze event. Andrew stayed behind in hopes the water people would come (they didn’t), but he wasn’t too sad because he had a new video game.

My mom, sister and I were late for the start of the snowshoe shuffle (typical), so we started out the trail on our own. I mean, it’s our hometown so we weren’t going to be lost forever! It was basically blizzarding out as we snowshoed through the tundra.

We missed the first turn and proceeded to only halfway follow the trail. Towards the end, we mistakenly snowshoed through the middle of the disc golf tournament, but everyone had their Minnesota Nice manners and didn’t yell at us.

The water guys finally came on Sunday and I spent the rest of the day doing dishes, laundry and giddily splashing water all over the place. Just kidding, but I did the dishes and the laundry.

Weekend facts:
-I learned my dad is engaged in an epic battle with the city plow guy. Every time the plow goes by, my dad yells obscenities because the plow purposely puts all the snow in our driveway.
-My sister managed to only fall twice on snowshoes. She also knocked over the kitchen garbage can with her duffel bag. The rest of us managed not to fall or knock things over.
-Here’s a picture I’m hoping will make everyone’s day. I thought it was hilarious on Friday night ( that may have been the 3 glasses of wine I had.) But I still think it’s funny today.
