At the beginning of this pregnancy when I thought ahead to the end, I envisioned Andrew and I busy getting everything in place while I enjoyed some ice cream and discussed names. What I didn’t foresee was spending 10 days on the couch because I came down with influenza.
What a terrible combination. I can’t move around very fast in the first place because I practically have to roll myself everywhere. Then add on top of it being so tired I can hardly stand up while I wait for my oatmeal to cook. Now throw in a cough that stops me in my tracks and you know what I’ve been dealing with. It has not been fun. Now I know what bed rest is like and I feel for anyone that had to deal with that during pregnancy.
Sitting on the couch all day means I am continually taunted by the things I need to get done, but just can’t because I’m sick. So frustrating.
I am finally feeling better, so Andrew and I have managed to get a few things done this weekend. The bedside co-sleeper we ordered arrived. We set it up and then discovered that we forgot to order leg extenders, so it currently sits about a foot lower than our bed. Thankfully we have Amazon Prime, so we won’t have to wait long. I was going to add a picture, but right now it is filled with pillows to keep Ralph out of it and I figured people would jump down my throat about that before reading to learn why. Obviously I know that baby isn’t going to sleep in there with any pillows or blankets or pet dogs.
The other thing we received this weekend was a bassinet that I slept in as a baby. My parents bought it at a basket factory in Connecticut before I was born. It has survived all three of us children and only needed some minor repairs with zip ties to bring it up to snuff.
Here it waits for baby to come home and sleep the day away (hopefully). My parents brought it up on Saturday. They braved the germs to drop it off, which is nice considering baby could come anytime now.
Wow Mikki, you pick super high quality pictures for your blog. I know, I know, but it shows how concerned my dad was about getting the bassinet up here. The only place it would fit was in the bed of his truck, so he wrapped it in layers and layers of heavy-duty plastic wrap, then used duct tape and shrink-wrap to secure it. And it worked.
I am going back to work tomorrow for the first time in 10 days. I’m hoping that the baby decides to make an entrance soon because it has gotten really hard to work with toddlers in this condition. Fingers crossed that the next time I post, it includes cute pictures of a newborn.
